The Palmetto Youth Center’s Summer Camp is offered to the community’s youth for at least 8 weeks during the summer months.

 

It is designed to provide a positive alternative for working parents and is operational from 6:30 am until 6:00 pm., Monday through Friday.

 

The camp begins in June and concludes in August. Lunch is provided for the children from the USDA food program. Goals of the Palmetto Youth Center staff are to help participants improve:

• physical fitness

• learn to make responsible decisions

• gain an enthusiasm for learning

• build self-esteem and stimulate creativity.

 

Instructors supervise indoor and outdoor free play periods, games and any other social activities.

Children also take part in extra-curricular activities in the form of weekly field trips which include:

• skating

• visits to the library and the court system

• swimming

• Disney World

• Lowry Park Zoo

• Celebration Station

• Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Restaurant

• Adventure Island

• Pirate Cove and Ice skating
